York University offers valuable academic business programming at IBM Canada’s headquarters in Markham.
Third and fourth-year School of Administrative Studies students in York’s Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies (LAPS) are now able to take their Bachelor of Commerce courses at IBM Headquarters.
York and IBM have a long history of working together to create positive change and impact by supporting new ideas, through innovation and purposeful research.
These classes allow BComm students to benefit from:
- A high-profile and valuable educational and workplace environment learning from academics, small and large businesses, entrepreneurs, start-ups, and developers.
- Expanded experiential learning opportunities through relevant work-integrated learning, including guest IBM lecturers, sharing their personal knowledge and experience.
This new collaboration with IBM expands York’s presence in Markham and York Region. Markham is already home to Innovation York, also located at IBM, and YSpace York University’s innovation hub that supports high potential innovators, located in downtown Markham.
ventureLAB, a technology incubator is also located in IBM Canada’s headquarters, along with IBM Innovation Space, a research hub to more than 40 tech companies.
Collaborative learning environments such as these provide students with a truly unique learning environment opportunity with access to specialized expertise, resources, and technologies needed to grow and enhance their skills.
